When I started putting this page together, I called it the first thing that came to mind, so now you know how the page got its name. But as I typed, my mind starting flashing back and playing some very vivid black-and-white mental footage of Andy Griffith walking along the side of that lake outside Mayberry with Opee (aka Ron Howard) at his side, fishing poles effortlessly shouldered for the ride. I grew up as a kid with Opee, and my dad took me fishing too, and those are some of the memories I'll treasure most the rest of my life. So if you have a child of your own, boy or girl, or even if you don't, grab a pole and head on down to the Silver Lake Fishing Hole. The fish are always biting!

Attached is a fish caught by me (Michele Smith from Bergen, NY) on June 21st of this year. Ed Swigonski from Bergen is holding the 33 inch pike that was caught at the North end of Silver Lake on a spinner bait. I also caught a 28 inch this summer but the picture is still on the camera.
