UPDATE AS OF MAY 10, 2008:

This fall (2008), things will get interesting for us! We will be taking up residence in Rochester on a permanent basis and using our lake property only seasonally. There are many reasons for this, which I won't get into here; however, I wanted to mention the transition as it could eventually impact this site.

SilverLakeView has in the past (and still does) raise money through various avenues to try and offset expenses for the site's operation and maintenance. The site has never "turned a profit." As a matter of fact, it has always been in the red! But since some of the larger bills like electric service and broadband internet service have also been utilized in our "home" for personal as well as business use, I have absorbed much of the cost. Last year, after purchasing products to sell to try and raise additional funds, and still having inventory on hand at the end of the year, and after host provider fees and all other site-related expenses, the site realized a loss of over $2,000 for the year! Granted much of that was in product inventory still on hand, but we can't afford to continue to take losses on site operations and keep it going.

After we move, in order to keep the site going and keep the cams live, we will continue to have to pay for broadband internet access and electricity at Silver Lake, even though we won't be there, as well as all the other site-related fees. And the bottom line is: we can't afford to keep it going "out of pocket." We need to have enough in the SilverLakeView bank account to cover expenses through the winter. Otherwise, this site will at some point go away. We take in very little from an advertising dollar standpoint. The rest has to come from elsewhere. We hope you will consider supporting the site and keeping it online for years to come.

Financial records for SilverLakeView Enterprises are also available to anyone who wishes to see them.

SilverLakeView.com and the Silver Lake Cams are provided free of charge, and we take pride in that. You will never pay any membership fees or access fees for anything at the 'View. You can download images to your heart's content. This site is here for YOU! Since everything on the site is provided free, we are doing some things to try to raise money for site expenses and improvements. One of these is to make the opportunity available for anyone to support the site from a financial standpoint, if -- and only if -- they so desire. If you feel this is a great service and you would like to contribute, we would like to offer you the opportunity to do so. This site is about bringing the Silver Lake community together, so in a sense, if you're here, you are a part owner already!

It's called the "Friends of SilverLakeView" program. If you would like to contribute to the site's cost, you may do so in any amount you wish. If you wish to remain anonymous, you may do so. If you don't specify your donation as anonymous, I will list your name alongside the live cam image in the "Friends of SilverLakeView and the Silver Lake Cam" section. Contribution dollar amounts are NOT listed. I also put the date of your contribution with your name. The intent is to keep contributor's names visible for one year and then they are removed to make room for new entries.

As an added incentive, I will offer specially designated products from the SilverLakeView General Store for different levels of contributions. Use the following table as a guide to let me know which complimentary product you would like when you make your donation:
